October 2003 -- New survivor story added. FAQ list added. Garrison Keillor mentions the Peshtigo Fire in his public radio broadcast and e-mail newsletter, "The Writer's Almanac." Story about the Peshtigo Fire appears in the Baltimore Sun.

6 February 2003 -- An update on the 15th annual Fire Tower Run/Walk is posted, as well as preliminary information on 2003 Peshtigo Historical Day events.

30 December 2002 -- Story about Peshtigo Fire appears on Great Lakes Radio Consortium web site.

27 November 2002 -- Minnesota Public Radio reporter Stephanie Hemphill writes feature story on Peshtigo Fire.

10 October 2002 -- Two new survivor stories added.

8 October 2002 -- The people of Peshtigo marked the 131st anniversary of the fire with a candlelight service. 

7 October 2002 -- This site is mentioned in today's Green Bay Press-Gazette. (Click here for story.)

29 August 2002 -- Richard Bales' book on the Chicago Fire (including a discussion on Peshtigo) will be available the first week of October, in time for the 131st anniversary of the great fires.

8 August 2002 -- Two brand new books about the fire have been published! See Availability.

11 March 2002 -- Links to 1870 census information for Brussels and Nasewaupee in Door County, two towns that suffered losses in the fire.

7 March 2002 -- Visitor poll and map of the Fire Tower Race course added.

6 Feb. 2002 -- I have removed the site map feature, because it was causing problems for some browsers, and I couldn't figure it out! Likewise, the first search engine I installed was working only sporadically, so I have added a new search engine to help you locate items of particular interest.
